AWS Delivers Managed DevOps Environment for Container Apps

Amazon Web Services (AWS) this week made a managed AWS App Runner service for building container applications generally available. Scott Sanchez, head of product marketing for containers and serverless for AWS, says, in effect, AWS is now providing the entire DevOps backend that developers require to build and deploy applications now as a service.

Microsoft’s Windows Virtual Desktop is now Azure Virtual Desktop

As remote work became the default for many companies during the pandemic, it’s maybe no surprise that services like Microsoft’s Windows Virtual Desktop saw a lot of interest from large enterprises and a new crop of small businesses that suddenly had to find ways to better support their remote workers. And so as the user base changed, Microsoft’s vision for the product changed as well, leading it to now changing its name from Windows Virtual Desktop to Azure Virtual Desktop.

Google is moving parts of YouTube to its cloud service

Google is moving parts of its popular YouTube video service from the advertising company’s internal data center infrastructure to the company’s cloud service, the head of Google’s cloud said. The effort indicates Google is looking inward as it seeks to expand its share of the growing cloud-computing market and become less reliant on advertisements appearing on its web search engine and other properties.
